What inspired you to write?
I’ve been creating stories in my head since grammar school. I remember being the only 3 rd grader in my very large class to put ‘book writer person” on the poster we were required to create for vocation week. Sister Mary Matthew was not impressed. She spent nearly two days trying to convince me to change my vocation choice to “teacher,” “nurse,” or “nun.” I bet she’d be gratified to know I eventually did do the whole teaching thing before retiring and becoming the “book writer person.”
When did you write your first story?
2 nd grade. It had seven sentences and was about a magic cow.
Who is Victoria Rocus?
I’ve been happily married to my husband for almost 45 years. We have two adult sons and a lovely daughter-in-law. I was born and raised in the Chicago area and lived there practically my whole life until we moved to Middle Tennessee almost three years ago. I still retain my Chicago accent.
Do you have any accolades you would like to share?
I was nominated for a Golden Apple Award which is like the Academy Awards of education in Illinois. I didn’t win, but like they say in Hollywood, “it’s an honor just to be nominated.”
A fun fact?
I’ve been collecting, building and rehabbing dollhouses for over 40 years. I currently own eight of them in various stages of unfinished. Almost all of my houses are building and scenes from one of my current stories. I'm super crafty and a pretty good cook!
Genre you write and why?
Fantasy and Romance. It’s the best kind of escape reading and allows me to really stretch my imagination
A project your excited for coming up?
The debut of my book in 2024!
